LOCAL AREA AND FAQS

Based on a working farm in Great Ellingham, South Norfolk we have a unique placement and always like to ensure guests are fully aware that we are situated next to a B road (Watton Road) which services nearby farm traffic and normal local traffic. At peak times (morning and late afternoons) road noise can be louder than we might like but overall guests have never expressed any major issues at all. The main issue we face is a guest not researching our location closely enough prior to booking and then being surprised to see the road there on arrival. We understand that our location may not be suitable for everyone and urge guests to check this before making a booking as we do try to make this as clear as possible via photographs and also google maps.

On the flip side we are so lucky to be based where we are as we are within easy reach of some amazing places and activities. Below we have listed some of the most popular things, with links, but if you need help planning your trip let us know:

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN BRINGING A DOG TO GLAMP & TIPPLE?
Glamping isn’t just for humans! When you choose to bring your canine companion they will received a special doggy teepee bed, treats, towels and bowl in your unit and lots of cuddles!

WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY BOOKED AND WOULD LIKE TO BRING MY DOG?
This is absolutely fine, simply drop us an email and we can add this to you booking.
Please be aware that dogs will be charged at £18 per dog per stay with a maximum of two allowed per yurt.
If you have more than 2 dogs please contact us to see if we can be flexible on this.

ARE THERE ANY RULES/POLICIES FOR DOGS I SHOULD BE AWARE OF?
As much as we would like to give all dogs free rein on site we hope owners will understand that we have a duty to ensure we keep them, other glampers and wildlife safe at all times. Therefore we have a special ‘dog policy’ which you can read in full here.

Please ensure you have read this information before booking to bring your dog with yoU.

Below you will find answers to a selection of questions we regularly get asked, if there is anything we’ve missed please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Where are you located?
We are based in South Norfolk, on a working farm, in a small village called Great Ellingham (postcode is NR17 1LB)

How close are the bathrooms to the yurts?
Your private bathroom is a short 20/30 second stroll from your yurt depending on the yurt you book. Unfortunately due to the rural location of the site we were unable to install en-suite bathrooms next to the yurt but most guests love their little private on site bathroom and have no issues with the short walk. Please ensure you are happy with this and familiarise yourselves with the map of the site here.

Do you heat the hot tub for arrival?
Yes! This is all part of the service! Your hot tub will have been emptied, cleaned and refilled with clean water and eco chemicals (in line with HSG282 guidelines) on the morning of your arrival. Whilst our staff do their very best to get hot tubs heated in time for your arrival please be aware that this cannot be guaranteed and you may find the hot tub will still be heating on your arrival. Please be patient and understanding with our staff as they will be working hard to ensure it’s heated as quickly as possible.

Optional Pre-Heated Yurt Service?
We are pleased to offer this service as an optional extra for our guests. Some guests may be arriving a little later in the day or just not as confident with fires so we are happy to arrange for a staff member to set a fire in your yurt before arrival. Obviously due to the extra time and wood there is a charge for this service of £10 + vat (£12).

Please be aware that the fire will be set around 3pm on the day of arrival and packed with wood so, depending on your arrival time, the fire may/will have gone out by the time you arrive but the yurt should still be warm.

This service MUST BE PRE BOOKED and we have a CUT OFF TIME for requests of 12pm on the day of arrival so we can ensure there is enough time to organise this with the staff. If you request it later than 12pm we can’t guarantee we will be able to accommodate the request.

Do you allow dogs?
Yes we allow up to 2 well behaved/trained dogs in each yurt and charge £18 per dog per stay. You must inform us of your intention to bring your dog/s in advance.

If you have more than 2 dogs please contact us as we can sometimes be flexible on this. Please read our dog policy in full before booking here.

Is there a shop on site?
YES! We have our lovely honesty shop which stocks local produce, essentials and gifts/treats. We also have our honesty refreshment area where you will find a proper coffee machine, various drinks and a freezer full of ice creams and lollies. These are open 24/7 and you can access at any time – all we ask is for your honesty and that you write down the items you have on your clipboards.

You may also like to visit the Rookery Farm Veg Box (farm shop) which is open daily 10am-2pm and is only a few steps away from the glamping site. Here they stock fruit, veg, cheeses and a variety of meat items.

Obviously, prices in these shops will not be the same as you would find in a supermarket and so, if you prefer, you can find Lidl and Sainsbury’s around 3 miles from site.

Can I Pre-Order Food Items?
Yes! Contact us with what items you would like to order and we can arrange this for you! Whilst we try to keep the honesty shop well stocked we always recommend ordering items in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you have booked the site for a private event then YES you are more than welcome to use the communal spaces and all areas of the site at any time and you are welcome to move the tables, chairs and BBQs around to create a communal space for eating and socialising. We just ask that anything moved is put back to it original place after your stay.

If you haven’t booked private hire then we are not able to allow private use of the communal spaces for group activities or dining. However, you are more than welcome to bring a pop up gazebo to place near one of your yurts to use for private gatherings. If you need any help in this regard please contact us.

Yes we provide 1 towel per person for the stay. If you would like additional towels please feel free to bring them with you.

Is there WIFI?

Yes, all yurts/cabins have their own WIFI supply (the password can be found in the yurt/cabin). Please be aware that whilst this is usually extremely reliable, we are still in a rural field and very occasionally there may be slower download speeds (particularly if EVERY yurt is trying to watch the same thing at the same time – e.g. World Cup Fixtures!)

Do you provide cots?

If you book to bring an infant with you then you have the choice of either a travel cot OR single bed. You will be asked to choose your preference on your client information form prior to arrival.

If you would like to have BOTH options then we will set up a single bed and you are welcome to bring a travel cot with you.

Do you provide wood?

Each booking has 6 heat logs per night included in the price AND we will heat your hot tub for arrival.

Do you provide charcoal?
No. You are welcome to bring your own or we do have some at the honesty shop which is available to purchase.

Do you allow disposable BBQS?
Yes. If you prefer not to have to clean you BBQ provided during your stay we do allow you to use disposable BBQS. You can either bring one with you or buy one from our honesty shop on site. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU PLACE THE DISPOSABLE BBQ ON TOP OF YOUR FIRE-PIT TO PREVENT DAMAGE.

Are you open all year round?
Yes! We are open all year round and have had many wonderful guests staying during the winter who have all said it’s magical, cosy and very atmospheric! The internal log burners really do pack a punch!

Are the yurts/cabins warm in winter?
Yes! Our yurts/cabins are fully insulated and heated with a powerful log burner, may clients have ended up needing to open the door as they have overheated the yurt – even in winter!  We also provide thick, fluffy bedding, throws, hot water bottles and if it’s super chilly outside we can also offer additional electric heaters if requested for £10 per day.

Are the yurts/cabins hot in summer?
As you will understand, with all most glamping/camping units, during the heat of the day the yurts can be warm. However, they do cool down nicely during the evening and overnight.

The bedding provided is teddy bear fleece all year round as feedback from guests is that it’s still nice to have when the yurt cool down at night. If you prefer cotton bedding you are welcome to bring some with you.

You are welcome to bring a fan with you or you can hire a fan from us for £10 per night.

Do you take a damage security deposit?
Yes we do. This is taken, on card, on the day of your arrival (either automatically OR in person). The standard deposit of £100 is preauthorised and then released on the day of departure but it may take a few days for the card processing company to remove the pending payment from your account. Please note that if you are bringing a dog with you then the deposit will be £150.

We take this deposit to cover any major damage (not just normal wear a tear we would expect to cover!) and also incase you choose to purchase any items on site during your stay.
